The
Arthur Hills Signature Course at Palmetto Dunes
Designed by one of golf's architectural purists,
the Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes is one of
Hilton Head Island's most unique layouts...and one
of its most celebrated as well. Readers of Golf
Digest have consistently rated the Hills Course
at Palmetto Dunes as top resort course on an island
known for great golf. The beauty and character of
the Hills Course begins with the terrain - uncharacteristically
rolling for the Lowcountry. The gently undulating
fairways flow over existing dune lines, causing more
than a few uneven lies along the way. Long hitters
hold little advantage at Hills, as thick stands of
live oaks and pine trees place on premium on accuracy
off the tee. A winding lagoon system brings water
into play on 10 of the 18 holes, and the prevailing
winds from the nearby Atlantic have tremendous impact
on shot selection. Slopes and hollows planted in sea
oats and love grass add to the character and ambience
of this outstanding course. The Hill's Course's reputation
as a championship-worthy layout was proven during
its 12-year reign as host of the prestigious Golf
World Palmetto Dunes Collegiate Invitational.
